EuroChem buys Argentinian fertilizer seller Emerger Fertilizantes
MOSCOW, Aug 7 (PRIME) -- Fertilizer producer EuroChem has acquired private Argentinian fertilizer distributor Emerger Fertilizantes S.A. (Emerger), EuroChem said in a statement on Monday without elaborating.
“EuroChem continues to expand its distribution network to get a better access to several important markets, in particular, through recent purchases of distribution companies in Brazil, Bulgaria, Hungary and Spain,” the statement read.
“The deal to buy Emerger will significantly improve EuroChem’s market positions in Latin America, an important region holding an 11% share in the sales structure.”
Emerger sells about 50,000 tonnes of fertilizers annually. It has an own 12,000 tonne warehouse and rents three retail centers. Premium fertilizers account for about 60% of its sales.
According to the Argentinian fertilizer producers association Fertilizar Asociacion Civil, the country’s fertilizer market will rise to 5.5 million tonnes in 2020 from 3.4 million tonnes in 2016, EuroChem said.
